I am a Professor of History and Economic Institutions at the Universidade de Vigo, to which I have belonged since 1990.
I was born in Combarro (Pontevedra), a unique fishing village, declared a Historical Site in 1972.
I graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1988. I took my doctorate at the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1998, with a thesis directed by Francisco Comín (University of Alcalá de Henares) and Ramón Villares (University of Santiago).
In 2008 I did a research stay at the Institut Jean-Baptiste Say, Université Paris 12 Val-de-Marne, with Professor Albert Broder; in 2017 at the University of Warwick (School of Modern Languages and Cultures) as Visiting Associate Professor, invited by Professor Kirsty Hooper; and, in 2020, at the CREC (Centre for Research on Contemporary Spain), at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris 3), directed by Professor Marie Franco. I also spent several research periods at the Universities of Alcalá and Complutense de Madrid and in the Economic History section of the Banco de España's Research Department.
